The economy of Sudan employs over three quarters of its labour force in agricultural, agrarian, fisheries and farming production. The Darfur dispute, the aftermath of two ten years of civil war in the south, the lack of basic infrastructure and facilities in large areas, and a reliance by much of the general populace on subsistence agriculture, fisheries and farming ensure much of the general populace will remain at or under the poverty line for years despite rapid rises in average per capita income.
