The economy of Seychelles has been led by the tourist sector and tuna fishing. In recent years, the state has encouraged Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to upgrade hotels and other services. At the same time, the state has moved to reduction of the dependence on tourism and transportation by promoting the development of farming, fishing, and small-scale industrial manufacturing.
