Overview: There is no formally agreed upon measure to define what is an ‘advanced’ or ‘developed’ economy, and what is still ‘developing’. The UN approximates this divide by looking at the Human Development Index (HDI) and includes countries with a HDI over 0.9. The IMF focuses more on economic performance, and defines Other Advanced Economies not included in the G7 or Eurozone as Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Israel.

Values are based upon GDP in national currency and the exchange rate projections provided by country economists for the group of other emerging market and developing countries. Exchanges rates for advanced economies are established in the WEO assumptions.

The GDP deflator is derived by dividing current price GDP by constant price GDP and is considered to be an alternate measure of inflation.
