The Republic of Madagascar is an archipelago of islands. The main island is also called Madagascar, which is the fourth largest island in the world. A majority of the population is engaged in agriculture, animal rearing and forestry. The industrial sector includes textile mills and processing units for agricultural products. Export of agricultural output accounts for almost three quarters of the total budget revenues.
