amongst the world's poorest in Per-Capita GDP terms countries (on a Per-Capita GDP basis), Comoros is made up of three islands that have inadequate transportation links, a young and rapidly increasing general populace, and few natural resources. The depressed educational level of the workforce contributes to a subsistence level of economic activity, high unemployment, and a heavy dependence on foreign grants and technical aid. Agriculture, fisheries and farming, including fishing, hunting, and forestry, contributes 40 per cent to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employs 80 per cent of the workforce, and provides most of the exports.
