The Western Union® Prepaid MasterCard® is generally referred to as the Western Union Debit Card. The Western Union Debit Card empowers the card holders to purchase commodities and pay for services wherever the MasterCard® Debit Card is accepted.

The Western Union Debit Card does not call for the following, otherwise required in case of regular Debit Cards :

  • Filling up of longer application forms
  • Credit checks upon the consumers
  • Bank accounts
  • Verification of employment
  • Security deposits on part of the consumers.

    The simple procedures stated below need to be followed carefully in order to subscribe to the Western Union Debit Card :

    • Filling up of the online application form given on the official website of Western Union®

    • Activating the Western Union Debit Card on its arrival (usually after around five days) by taking the card to the Western Union® outlet close by.

    The following points need to be considered closely before applying for the Western Union Debit Card

    • The first value load is restricted between $5 and $300 and if it is the first one for the consumer in question then no additional funds can be loaded beyond the $300 upper limit.

    • $25 will be charged upon the consumer each time his/her purchases exceed the amount available in the Western Union Debit Card.

    In addition the Western Union Debit Card provides all the facilities that Debit Cards call for including :

    • Hassle free traveling or shopping without carrying cash on one's person.
    • The added advantage of drawing cash at will from ATMs when required.
    • Access to one's own account over the Internet.
    • If misplaced or stolen, these Cards can be blocked immediately from further usage by informing Western Union® supported by a Police Department notification.
