Credit Card Payment

Credit Card Payment can be done in a lot of ways among which the most popular being the online one. It is the most important part of the credit card where the payment for credit card is to be made by the credit card holder.

Credit cards give financial flexibility to its customers. Through this, a customer can buy goods and services and is not required to make cash payments immediately for the same. At the time of transaction the customer just needs to forward the credit card to the merchant or business owner, from whom he is buying the good/service. The merchant in turn swipes or waves the credit card in the terminal. If the card gets verified then the merchant accepts the same and it is being considered as credit card payment. Through this, the customer gets the benefit of not having to pay in cash instantly but he remains entitled in paying off the outstanding debt at a later period to the credit card company. This lagged time span for payment is known as grace period. If he fails to make the required payment within this period then the company imposes interest rate payments on him along with late payment and other charges.

The most traditional credit card payment is to drop a cheque of an amount equal to the outstanding debt in the nearest drop box of the credit card issuing bank or company. This is one of the offline methods of Credit Card Payment.

The merchants can accept the credit card payments if they have a special account called the merchant account through a merchant bank or merchant service provider (MSP). This allows the merchants or the business owners to accept payments made through the credit cards. This is not a free account and involves a whole set of charges namely, monthly minimum fees, authorization fees, etc. The verification of the credit card is done either through a online route or a offline one (telephone line, cellular service, wireless). The online credit card payment processing gives verification information on a real time basis.

There is another way of processing credit card payments and that is through E-commerce ASP Service commonly known as Payment Gateway. It is a third party service for online credit card verification. This is a secured way of exchange of information.

Credit card payment can be done in the above ways. For more information on this topic please browse through worldpay.com and irs.gov.
