Credit Card Merchant

Credit Card Merchant is the business owner with whom the credit card holder makes transaction with. The customer first purchases the desired commodity (goods or services) from the merchant but instead of paying him in cash he opts to pay through his credit card. This gives the credit card holder a grace period of 20 to 30 days for forwarding the interest free outstanding debt to the credit card issuing company. Credit card merchant gets his required amount from the credit card company/bank and not directly from the customer.

All the business owners or the merchants are not capable of accepting payments through the credit cards. For this they need to open a special account with a Merchant Bank or a MSP (Merchant Service Provider) known as Merchant Account. This account gives them the right to accept payments through the credit cards. The merchant accounts of the credit card merchants are not free of cost rather a wide array of charge is associated with it (monthly minimum fee, batch fees, etc).

There is also another service which allows verification of the cards swiped or waved by the credit card merchants. This is known as Payment Gateway. This is an online service which verifies the card on a real time basis. This process is a computer based routed through a third party vendor . This is entirely a network based one.

The payment verification through E-commerce ASP Service has given competitive advantage to the credit card merchants. This has helped them to expand their business by making the transaction fast. This IP payment gateway service has also benefited both the customers and the credit card merchants by making the transactions more secure. The informations are put in the terminals in an encrypted form which facilitates secured passage of information between both the parties (ie. Customer and credit card merchant).
