MasterCard rewards cards offer the opportunity to enjoy special benefits on everyday purchases. MasterCard offers reward benefits in association with its business partners. Reward programs might include air miles, cash back, shopping, travel and gas.

MasterCard Rewards for Individual Users

MasterCard offers several reward programs for its customers. Individuals can apply for different MasterCard rewards based on personal interests. However, the issuer reserves the right to approve the request. Credit history and financial standing of the cardholder play a crucial role in the approval of rewards card application. Some of the most popular rewards programs are:

  • Airline rewards: In association with major international airlines, MasterCard offers the opportunity to earn airline miles. An individual can earn air miles for everyday purchases through the credit card. For individuals with excellent credit ratings, airline rewards also include access to the VIP lounge at all major international airports. US Airways MasterCard credit card is one such card that allows users to earn dividend miles that can be redeemed for airline services.

 

  • Cash Back: With the cash back MasterCard rewards card, users can earn discounts on daily purchases. These include the purchase of merchandise, grocery, gas and online orders or telephone bookings. The Citi CashReturns MasterCard offers the opportunity to earn 1% cash back on all purchases. The Chase Freedom card allows users to earn 10% cash back through online transactions. All other purchases earn a single point for every dollar spent. The cash back amount is automatically refunded into the transacting account or adjusted in the credit card bills. MasterCard also partners with several branded outlets to offer special cash back reward schemes for credit-worthy customers.

  • Hotel rewards: This MasterCard rewards card lets a user earn points that can be redeemed against hotel reservations and booking upgrades. The Starwood Preferred Guest MasterCard credit card offers the opportunity to earn a single starpoint for every $2 spent on eligible purchases. With 19.9% APR (annual percentage rate), this card lets the user to redeem starpoints for multiple services at Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The hotel rewards card is meant for individuals with good to excellent ratings only.

  • Travel rewards: With a travel reward MasterCard credit card, one can redeem points for bookings of flights and hotels. The HSBC Choice Travel MasterCard allows users to earn one travel point for every dollar spent. Also, customers are eligible for special discounts on travel bookings through this card. The Citi PremierPass Elite Level card allows the user to earn points for travel bookings made through the card. These points can be redeemed for complimentary tickets to preferred destination.
