The KTC credit card is issued by Krungthai Card PCL, which is a consumer finance company with almost 48% of its business owned by its parent company, Krung Thai Bank (KTB) PCL. It was founded in 1996 to work on behalf of Krung Thai Bank PCL for issuing cards and acquiring new business.

In October 2002, KTC was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), as it bought the credit card portfolio at its net worth from KTB. It had four main businesses:

  • Credit card issuing business: This includes credit approval, payment and debt collection
  • Credit card acquiring business: This includes acting as a bank for shop members and building their network
  • Circle loan business: This includes providing loan facilities on existing cards
  • Card services business: This includes providing card management service to other institutions.

Kinds of KTC Credit Card

KTC credit cards come in three different types:

  • The standard KTC visa premium credit card
  • KTC co brand credit card
  • KTC affinity credit card

The main difference between the three is the affiliation under which these cards are issued. The standard card is the only card of the three that comes without any affiliations. By virtue of their affiliation, KTC credit cards offer very attractive deals and rates to card holders. One good example of the KTC affinity credit card is Thai Airlines, which started distributing free return tickets to KTC card holders.
