The registration process for online management of the Discover card is divided into four steps:

·        Account information: This stage requires the card holder to enter the card account number, its expiration date, 3 digit card-member ID and the primary card user’s information.

·        Create User ID: This stage asks the consumers to select their user name and password and define their preferences.

·        Set options: This screen displays the various options, such as e-statements, notification mails, and let the user opt in or out of different available services.

·        Verify: This is the final step of registration that involves confirming the details and submitting them for creating a new account.

Discover Card Login: Forgotten Password

With so many different online accounts, it is easy for a card user to forget the password or the user name and hence be unable to login. In such cases, the card holder needs to reset the password or create a new account for logging in. To do this, a user needs to click on ‘Forgot User ID or Password.’ The page that follows has two options for addressing the problem:

·        Logging through card account number and password: This option can be used when the user remembers the password but has forgotten the username. The system lets the user login with the account number and password. Once logged in, the consumer can go to ‘Personal Profile’ to create a new user ID.

·        Logging through the account number: This option can be used when the user has forgotten the password. Once the account number is submitted, the password gets reset and is mailed at the registered email id.

Even with most of the industry standard security features, such as 128 bit SSL (Secured Security Layer), multiple firewalls and active system monitoring that provides real time alerts, the onus of ensuring the security of the account lies with the users. They should safeguard the Discover card login details against fraud and should avoid using public computers for accessing their credit card accounts.
