American Express Card Payment Online

The American Express Card Payment Online facilities are a most convenient way to clear your dues. It is a part of the American Express card. However, the online account set-up takes time. Once established, it works efficiently.
 
American Express Card Payment Online: Steps
You can make your Amex credit card payment online by following these steps:

 
  • Log on to www.americanexpress.com and enter your user ID and password in the relevant boxes on the left-side of the screen.
  • If you are a first time user, create an account by clicking on the "create an account" option above the login box.
  • For registering a new account, you will have to furnish personal details such as credit card number, four-digit pin and address, and contact details.
 
Once you have created an account, log in with your ID and password. A new window will pop up. Then, select the ‘check and pay bill’ option.
 
Here, you will be offered five choices:
  • Statement balance
  • Recent payments
  • Recent activity
  • Outstanding balance
  • Payment due
 
Click on ‘payment due.’ Then, proceed to select the ‘pay bill’ button. Here, you will have to furnish additional information about:

  • Requisite payment amount.
  • Bank information such as name, account number or routing number.
  • Due date of payment.
 
Choose ‘continue’ once you have provided the necessary information. Finally, you will be required to verify the information. In case, you have mistakenly typed in incorrect data, choose ‘cancel’; otherwise click on ‘submit’ to proceed with the payment. Once the payment is advanced, a confirmation page will appear on the screen. It will thank you for the payment.
 
Amex Credit Card Online Payment: Considerations
 
The American Express card payment online facility is subject to these considerations:
 
  • Payment cancellation: You can cancel an online payment, provided the cancellation takes place before the scheduled date of payment. This can be carried out from the ‘Summary of Accounts’ page by clicking on the ‘Pay Bill’ link. In case your payment is scheduled for a future date, click on either the ‘Delete’ or ‘Edit’ link.
  • Payment frequency: You can make a payment once every 24 hours.
  • Splitting payments: You can split your Amex credit card payment a maximum of three bank accounts. However, the bank account must be a checking account, and not a credit or investment account.
 
Finally, bear in mind that your payment will not be posted on the online account immediately. It generally, takes up to 48 hours.
