Infosys Technologies is a next generation information technology (IT) company offering software solutions and consultation. Infosys Technologies Limited has been ranked #1012 in Forbes Global 2000 list of companies.

Brief history
Infosys was set up in 1981. It is a NASDAQ listed IT services company having over 90,000 employees on its rolls. Starting off with a capital of $250, it has evolved into a $4 billion organization with a market capitalization of greater than $20 billion. Originally established in Pune, they shifted their headquarters to Bangalore. In 1987 this company established its first overseas office in Boston, USA. Their first European office was opened in United Kingdom in 1995.

In 1999, revenue of Infosys reached $100 million, and in 2000 it crossed $200 million. In 2001, Infosys doubled its revenue to $400 million. By 2001 this company had offices in France, Hong Kong, Argentina and United Arab Emirates (UAE), and development centers in US, UK, Canada and Japan. In another 2 years, Infosys started operations in Singapore, Netherlands, Switzerland, China and Australia.

Products and services
Infosys offers, in alliance with leading technology providers, total solutions based on business expertise in varied domains. Based on their knowledge and expertise, Infosys provides services in fields of application, consulting, product engineering, system integration, customized software development, IT engineering services, re-engineering, maintenance, technology consulting, and business process outsourcing.

Global delivery model initiated by Infosys Technologies is essentially a practice of taking work to locations where the best talent is available for completing an assigned task. It involves least risk and maximum returns. This practice has enabled Infosys to set up offices in Australia, Poland, Czech Republic, Japan, Canada, and UK in addition to India. In all, this company has 40 offices and development centers in worldwide locations. Infosys takes pride in getting almost 97 percent of its revenue from existing clients.

Financials
Infosys as on March 2008 earned profits of around $0.89 billion and sales of about $3.21 billion. Total asset worth of this firm was nearly $3.08 billion in corresponding period.

Global financial crisis is expected to curtail growth rate of Infosys Technologies during April 2008-Mar 2009 financial period. As major clients of this firm hail from banking and financial services sector, global financial crisis is expected to have an adverse impact on Infosys' profits.
