Another company by name Asiatic Petroleum Company comprising Shell Rotschilds and Royal Dutch was formed for marketing petroleum products in South East Asia.

Thereafter in 1928, Asiatic Petroleum (India) and Burmah Oil Company formed Burmah-Shell Oil Storage and Distributing Company of India Limited. Subsequently in 1976, Burmah-Shell group of companies were brought under Government of India’s control and Bharat Refineries Limited was created. In 1977, Bharat Refineries was renamed to Bharat Petroleum Company Limited.
