The school was found in the year 1818 and is considered as the largest university in Nova Scotia and one of the major centres for graduate and professional studies in Atlantic Canada.
The major areas of concern in the study programme include accounting, marketing management, financial management, human resources, quantitative decision-making, management information systems, production and service management, law, international business, and business strategy. The School's Centre for International Business Studies supports research in international business and encourages Dalhousie business students to think globally. Links with other Schools in the Faculty of Management and the university support additional academic activities in areas such as environmental management, information systems & technology, marketing informatics, electronic commerce and risk management.
The school deals with both the under graduate and graduate levels.
Generally there are two types of graduate degrees are offered to the students - an MBA (Regular Stream) degree, and a specialized MBA (Financial Services) degree.
