Rail Budget 2007-08 May Leave Fairs Unchanged

The coming railway budget for the year 2007-08 is expected to leave the second-class rail fairs unchanged. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav will present the rail budget on 27th February 2007. The minister will present the budget for the fourth consecutive year.

It is expected that the budget will focus more on the development of volumes and capacity not on rail fair rising. Huge profits from the sector have enabled the sector to invest more on development of infrastructure and modernization process.

From the infrastructure point of view, the budget will focus on modernizing and use of technology such as advanced signaling, and telecommunications.

The minister has proposed for total investment sum of Rs 3,00,000 crore in the next five years. In the same direction, Private participation in the sector will foster the work process. More facilities will be given to the commuters in this budget.

Apart from this, the budget is expected to come up with more Garib Raths, and some more new trains.
