The Canada Trust (CT) was initially an autonomous company, purchased by the TD Bank in 2000. After this incorporation, the Toronto-Dominion Bank’s new brand name became the TD Bank Financial Group. The CT was then merged with TD's existing wholesale division to form the TD Canada Trust division.
