 Trans-Dniester Republican Bank is the central bank of Trans-Dniester Moldavian Republic.

On 22nd December 1992, the Supreme Council of TMR decreed to establish Trans-Dniester Republican Bank on the basis of the Trans-Dniester Moldavian Republic’s Law “On Trans-Dniester Republican Bank” with the objective of regulating the banking system in the country. The bank’s establishment was a great step forward in reinforcing the Republic’s independence.

In accordance with the Law “On Trans-Dniester Republican Bank”, the Trans-Dniester Republican Bank is responsible to the Supreme Council of the Trans-Dniester Moldavian Republic.

As the central bank of the country the main functions of the Bank are:

  • To regulate the circulation of money in the country
  • To support the value of the national currency and maintain its stability

 

  • To work towards formulating a uniform state monetary and credit policy
  • Ensure proper functioning of the payment system
  • Protect the interest of the depositors and investors
  • Supervise and control the activities of the banking and other financial institutions in the country
  • Conduct such operations as is necessary to strengthen external economic relations
  • Acting as banker the to the government
  • Licensing commercial banks to conduct banking operations
  • Conducting operations on securities market, buying and selling foreign exchange

The administration of the bank is in the hands of a Board of Directors and it is the main organ of the management of the bank. The Board of Directors consists of the Chairman, the Deputy Chairmen and other members of the Board of Directors.
