The People's Bank of China is the Central Bank of China. The bank was being established in the year 1948 by the decisions of the central council.

The bank is to control both the monetary as well as fiscal policies in the country.

 

The major functions of the bank are as follows:

  • Formulating the monetary policy
  • Issuing the national currency and overseeing its circulation
  • Controlling the Foreign Exchanges
  • Conducting the financial analysis

The top management at the bank includes Governors and a certain number of deputy Governors. The Governor being appointed by the President of the People's Republic of China is responsible for overall functions of the People's Bank of China.
