Guinea-Bissau, officially known as the Republic of Guinea-Bissau is a country in western Africa. The country is among one of the smallest nations in continental Africa. Guinea Bissau is among the twenty poorest economies in the world. The country has a foreign debt of a staggering US$921 million.

Banque Centrale des Etats de L’Afrique de L’Ouest or the Central Bank of West African States is the common central bank of the eight member countries (Guinea-Bissau being one of them) that together constitute the West African Monetary Union.
