Bank of Korea is the Central Bank of the Republic of Korea founded in the year 1950. The bank was established as to the provision of the Bank of Korea Act. Since then the bank has been operating with an objective of maintaining price stability in the country's financial system.

Some of the important functions of the bank are as follows:
- Issuing the bank notes and coins
- Implementing the monetary and credit policy
- Acting as a banker to the Government and banks
- Managing the Country's financial system
- Supervising the banking activities
- Analyzing the economic parameters of the country
The Monetary Policy Committee at the bank is the highest body. The committee is primarily concerned with formulating Monetary and Credit policies in the country. The committee is responsible in deliberating and finding solutions with regards to matters relating to the operations of the Bank.
