Banco Central de la Republica Dominicana (BCRD) is the Central Bank of Dominican Republic. The bank was established through the Monetary and Banking Law of 1947. The sole responsibility of the bank is to regulate the country's banking and financial system.

Some of the important functions of the bank are as follows:

  • Maintaining favorable monetary and fiscal conditions to ensure positive and continuous development of the economy.
  • Regulating market liquidity levels
  • Controlling the exchange rates
  • Introducing resolutions in connection to the country's financial system.

The bank implements all changes to banking regulations and directives proposed or brought in by the Monetary Board. The board has ten members. The Monetary Board is headed by the Governor of the Central Bank.
