The Banco Central de Chile is known as the National Bank of Chile. The bank was established in the year 1925. The bank was functioning in some selected areas earlier. But with the passage of time, the bank's activities have grown very fast.

The bank has been working since a very long with a sole aim of promoting development of the Chilean economy through a suitable application of fiscal, credit, capital market, foreign trade and international exchange, savings and other policies.

The Central Bank of the country is being governed by a 5-member central bank council. One among the council members is selected as the preside council members is selected as the president of the Central Bank, and serves for a duration of five years.
