Barclays Bank

In 1736, James Barclay after whom the Barclays Bank is now named, joined the banking business that his father-in-law John Freame and Thomas Gould, two goldsmiths, had started in London's Lombard Street in 1690. The Bank changed into a joint-stock company named Barclay & Co. Ltd. In 1896, merging with a total of nineteen private banking service providers like itself.

Over the years, from the time of its inception as a provider of smaller sums of consumer loans by the two Goldsmiths, John Freame and Thomas Gould, the Barclays Bank has come a long way to attain its present status of being one of the leading providers of consumer as well as commercial banking products and services, across the globe. This achievement, on the part of the Barclays Bank, is the result of years of consistent hard work to relate with the consumers and the ability to provide customized banking services and products which fulfill the respective needs of every particular consumer.
