National Sustainable Agriculture

National Sustainable Agriculture is a national level program in United States Of America where support and solution to problems of the rural people are done on a daily basis. This program is structured under the organization named National Center For Appropriate Technology or NCAT in short. National Sustainable Agriculture gets all its required funds from United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Business- Cooperative Service. The NCAT's Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development program is conceptualized in such a way that the communities from the rural areas who have low level of income get benefit from usage of alternative technology in farming.

The program concerning National Sustainable Agriculture has a host of projects under it. But the largest one out of them is ATTRA - National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service. The main objective of this program is to supply information about sustainable agriculture to the rural farmers. All these information are made available to the farmers, horticulturists and ranchers involved in National Sustainable Agriculture, educationists, researchers and the other associated persons.

Information related to National Sustainable Agriculture started percolating to the target groups from the year 1987 and is done from the office premises of the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) situated in Iowa, Pennsylvania, California, Louisiana, Montana and Arkansas. The project called ATTRA under National Sustainable Agriculture has a total strength of specialists on agricultural affairs which is above twenty. They come from different fields related to farming such as specialization on livestocks, farming techniques in farming, pest management, etc. But the thing which is common among these specialists is that the base of their specialization revolves around Sustainable Agriculture.

The information that is given by the National Sustainable Agriculture include the information on marketable gardening crops, livestock, farming with the help of organic inputs, the ways and procedures meant for managing the pests, ways of managing and preparing the soil and other associated ones.
