Illinois Department of Agriculture, the Government organization that regulates as well as promotes the agriculture of the state was originally founded as the Illinois Agricultural Association in the year 1819.
The
Illinois Department of Agriculture oversees the total agricultural processes of the state including the cultivation of crops and plants, and livestocks.
The maintenance of the the optimum conditions which are essential for the cultivation of crops as well as the sustenance of the livestock are a responsibility of the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
The organization is also obligated to ensure that the farmers are provided with the best quality seeds in required amounts and the people who raise livestock are supplied with good quality young stock of live animals as required by them.

Illinois Department of Agriculture organizes different agricultural fairs to uphold and promote the agriculture of the state. The organization is presently based in Springfield, Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Agriculture has worked diligently and efficiently to ensure the rank of the state as one of the leading producers of corn, soybeans, and pigs (for pork).
The other major agricultural harvests of the state include wheat, fruits and vegetables, sorghum, oats and also different speciality crops including horseradish, buckwheat, and Christmas trees etc.
Food and industrial products are the finished commodities which are circulated in the local as well as the external markets of Illinois, after being processed in the local companies that are engaged in manufacturing of agricultural products including food and other such goods.
As such, agriculture related industry and commerce are a major source of income for the state as stated by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
