Japan Agriculture

Among the Gross Domestic Product Japan Agriculture provides only around 1.6 percent whereas other sectors like service and industry sector provide as much as 73 percent and 25 percent respectively. It has also been seen that out of more than 66.5 million labors in Japan only nearly 4.5 percent people are involved in Japan Agriculture whereas Industrial sector has nearly 28 percent and services have almost 68 percent of the total population.

It has been seen that only about 12 percent of the total land available in Japan is appropriate for cultivation and this makes Japan Agriculture suffer in a way. To overcome this lack of land the Japan Government has introduced a special type of farming policy which is known as the system of terraces and this system helps the farmers to conduct agriculture in relatively smaller areas.

This system has helped the Japan Agriculture immensely as it has become the highest producer of crops in such a higher land level. This has also provided more than 50 percent crops in a certain amount of land that what it normally Japan Agriculture would have produced.

The Japan Government helps the farmers in a lot of ways as most of products in Japan Agriculture are subsidized and protected by the Japan Government. It is also notable that the Japan Government actually favors cultivation of small scale and not the large scale agriculture which is normally found in Northern America.

Japan Agriculture with their higher rate of production in limited land that is available has made itself self- dependent in producing rice and wheat.

Though in the case of other crop production Japan Government is forced to import almost 50 percent of the needed amount. Japan is considered as the largest market for exporting crops made by the European Union.

Japan also grows various kind of fruits especially apples, pears and oranges. It also produces some sorghum and soybeans as well though a large amount of these are also imported to Japan to fulfill the need of its countrymen.
