Agriculture Climate

Agriculture climate has tremendous impact on the farmers. Agriculture climate may affect crops, pests, weeds, livestock, pathogens etc. Agriculture climate determines if consistency in the supply of food products will remain or not.

Agriculture production is influenced to a great extent by various factors which includes light, water, temperature. Climate variations whether long term or short term affects the agricultural yield in a given area.

In the event when Agriculture climate is not suitable for the proper growth of the crops, the farmers are compelled to opt for alternative methods of farming for reasons of survival or to prevent loss.

For similar reasons there are several agencies or which have expressed concern about the changing climatic conditions worldwide like global warming etc.

Agriculture climate can effect agricultural operations in different ways:
Climate fluctuations over a long period of time especially due to global warming exerts a tremendous effect on agriculture.

One should keep in mind that due to changes in the agriculture climate, ultimately the production of food is at stake.

The different ways in which agriculture climate may affect agricultural processes can be summed up as:

  • Due to ever changing ecological make up, predicting agriculture climate becomes a very tenacious job and chalking out an agricultural plan gets hindered.

  • An increase in the level of the sea is a threat to the coastal regions. As a result, the agricultural stretches which are present in the coastal areas will get washed away.
This results in the change in the course of the coastal region and loss of valuable agricultural land.
Increase in the level of carbon dioxide due to global warming might have a positive effect as well.

Carbon dioxide has a positive effect on crops because it has a fertilizing effect. However, the negative consequences due to global warming may far exceed the positive effects.

One cannot compromise with the well being of the innumerable farmers. The reason being, due to global warming if the coastlines do not exist, the question of farming in that area does not arise.

Hence, agriculture climate has a vital role to play.

Agriculture climate provides consistent supply of food and every possible effort should be made to maintain a natural environment which can act as a catalyst for bettering agricultural operations.
