Feudalistic Agriculture System

Feudalistic agriculture system can be defined as an agrarian system, where traditional farming was totally under the control of the landlords. It was a kind of agricultural stratification, where large landowners, although being a minor class, owned the majority of the land. It was basically an unbalanced system, because the effects of the agricultural activities were not properly distributed among people.
Different Opinion: Feudalistic Agricultural System
According to the view of Schafer, industrialization is the only solution to substitute a feudalistic agriculture system. Schafer also added that lowering the price of agricultural produce in comparison to industrial products will be the most favorable condition for rapid industrialization.

Feudalistic Agriculture System: An outline
Feudalistic agriculture is an agrarian system, where agricultural activities were manipulated by large landholders. A certain class of people, who had power and land, controlled the agricultural production process. The prices of those agricultural products were also regulated by the big landlords.

The natural, social, political and technological conditions are the primary factors responsible for the prosperity of any agrarian system. In Feudalistic agriculture system, the natural conditions like land, air and water were sufficient but lack of definite agricultural policies restricted the growth of feudalistic agriculture system.
The other kinds of agrarian system
The other major kinds of agrarian systems include capitalistic and socialistic system.
  • Capitalistic: Capitalistic agrarian system refers to an arrangement, in which the agrarian activities are mostly manipulated by privately owned companies and individual entrepreneurs. This kind of agrarian system was followed in North America, South America and Europe.

  • Socialistic: It is a kind of agrarian system, where land is controlled and owned by the state. The cultivators shared their parts according to the amount of productivity. Countries like Cuba and China followed this kind of agrarian system.
